Monday 11 June 2012 Narbonne to Port la Novelle

We did manage to get some of the blog published without the photos, using Jim’s computer as a hotspot. We will still have to wait till we can get an internet connection to continue and we are still a couple of days behind with the publishing. It isn’t only because we are having too much fun.

Late start again (9:30) after a leisurely breakfast on board.

Jim steered the boat whilst Ian and Linda stayed on board as deck hands.  Whilst everyone else cycled along the cycle path which turned out to be a bit rough and bumpy, down to Port La Novelle. Bill met us at the two locks along the way so that he could operate them from the side.

The rest of the group found a coffee shop whilst they waited, so after we had found a mooring spot, secured and locked up the boat, we set off on our bikes to meet the others.

Disaster 1 – Jim’s bike broke

Disaster 2 – Someone came onto the boat the minute we had left and stole the BBQ!! So we spent the rest of the time at the port waiting for the Police Station to open at 2pm to lodge the incident and get a report. We did get the opportunity to cycle down to the beach (miles and miles of dirty looking sand)

 and look at the med though.

Disaster 3. - Linda tripped between the boat and the Quai and bruised and scratched her leg

Disaster 4 – The umbrella on top of the boat hitting a pine tree and bending.

Disaster 5 – it rained quite heavily when we got back into Narbonne and we discovered that the boat leaks through some of the windows so that two of the beds got wet

On arrival back into Narbonne we managed to find a place to tie up, as it was raining quite heavily we waited till it had stopped before walking into the town to find a restaurant to eat at. Unfortunately everywhere seemed to be closed so we ended up getting take away Pizzas and taking them back to the boat to eat.
