Phillips Update – 19 June Cadaques from Figueres

Today started out dull and wet but turned out to be a magnificent day.

After breakfast at La Rambla we walked to the station to pick up the car that we had booked – a fiat Panda and headed out to Cadaques. We went via Roses, which is another cute little port on the coast on the edge of Parc Natural Del Cap De Crues.

The road from there to Cadaques twisted around through the mountains with amazing views across to the sea at times.

We spent a lot of time touring Cadaques, a pretty seaside town, in the car

and on foot, after we finally managed to find somewhere to park the car.  We followed part of the Ruta Dali, which is a trail showing some of the works which Dali did in Cadaques from the same vantage points which inspired the artist, such as this one….

We then decided to take a Creuers  Cadaques to Cap De Crues.

14 Euro well spent. An hour and a half cruise out into the Mediterranean following the rugged coastline as far as Cap De Crues.

And back around past Port Lligat where Salvador Dali lived,

Took us a while to find the car again and on our way we walked through some interesting streets

and also looked inside the very ornate Iglisi Santa Maria.

We then drove around to Portlligat to see Casa Dali

By then we were feeling peckish having not had lunch and it was definitely dinner time, but there wasn’t anywhere there that looked very inviting to eat at so we drove around to Port De La Selva, yet another pretty little coastal village, where there were a few restaurants on the water front to choose from.  Here we had a delicious fish soup, with shellfish, prawns etc in it.

Short drive from there back to Figueres, there again, some of it skirting a beautiful coastline, and managed to get back before dark.
