Canal Du Midi

8th June

We weren’t able to take delivery of the boat until after lunch so we ordered some pizzas for lunch at the nearby cafe. After collecting our brand new bikes and the men had received the compulsory training on the boat we were able to load all our bags and the bikes onto the boat and head off.  Very peaceful motoring along the quiet canal in the afternoon and we managed to successfully negotiate two locks along the way with no drama.

We moored for the night at Villeneuve les Beziers

and walked into the town to find a store to stock up on supplies. Two trolley loads later we were well stocked with food and drink.

As the weather was so good and it was nice to be outside we had our dinner on the top deck.

After dinner we rolled dice to choose our gifts from Rose

(one for each of us). Had a lot of fun playing the game and swapping with others before the last 6 of the dice had been rolled. The gifts were most appreciated – thanks Rose, I bet you guessed we would get into the spirit of the game.

Some of us decided to go and explore the village before turning in for the night. Along the way we came across a restaurant “Les Enfants Terribles” where there were flamenco musicians playing, so we stayed a while and enjoyed the music and danced.

  1. Don't know if anyone else is having a problem with the pics on this latest blog. I'm only getting about an eight of each one! Two trolleys of supplies. One and a half of grog, the rest for food? Sounds like everything is going swimmingly.
