We finally managed to make arrangements to meet up with
Andrew today. We took a taxi in to drop us off at Raffles so that we could
check it out
before meeting Andrew at the Nichol Highway train station as
arranged.
We had to make definite arrangements for a time and place to meet as our travel Sims don’t seem to be working here. SMS messages are going into the ether.

Andrew took us for a delicious Indian lunch at one of the
local hangouts near his work
and then for a Kopi at another one where he usually gets his
breakfast fix when he gets to work.
After that he took us to where he works – high up in one of
the high rises.
I lost track of which floor but high – with incredible
views. He was able to point out the airport and the area where he lives and the
route he uses to cycle to work all from his office window
Our next plan was to check out Marina Sands and Gardens by
the Bay so when we left Andrew we went one stop on the MRT to Promenade so that
we could walk over the Helix Bridge to Marina Sands
First of all we wandered through Gardens by the Bay – a new
attraction that has only been open for two weeks.
It has themed gardens with a diverse range of plants from
different continents
They also had some interesting specimens of petrified wood
Next we headed for the Sky Park at the top of the Marina
Sands resort.
Apparently you have to pay to go to the top but we found out
if you said you were going for a drink you got a ticket to go up to the Kudeta
restaurant you didn’t have to pay. However, we were so thirsty that we decided
to get a drink anyway.

At $15 each for a beer we decided to only have one beer each,
before catching a taxi back to the Yacht club. We did make sure we spent plenty
of time taking in the view from all directions and taking photos before we left though

I decided to have a swim in the pool to cool off when we got back, before drinks at the Yacht club with another beautiful sunset.
As it was our last
night with Miles he took us out for dinner at the Swiss club where he is a
member.
Very nice meal, washed down with Moet & Chandon!!!!

Ah thats the life eh?!
ReplyDeleteIts small wonder that they don't charge you to go up to the Kadeta restaurant if you have a drink. Can you imagine having to pay for a lift to get you to a $15.00 beer!!! Sounds like a place you definately want to take a hip flask. Although the cokes probably cost $15.00 too. What would Dugald say to a $15.00 beer Heidi?
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing place and so many innovative structures - makes me want to visit - almost, except for the cost of the food and drinks...
