9 July The Lost Day

Not much to report for this day as it was mainly spent on the plane losing hours and losing sleep.

We had breakfast on the plane not long before we landed and by the time we left the airport it was mid afternoon!!!!

We caught a taxi out to the RSYC (Republic of Singapore Yacht Club)

where we are now staying. 

We got a running commentary from the taxi driver about the various sites along the way, which was nice, so we felt he deserved a tip. He looked strangely at the money we gave him and we realised why afterwards, we had given him a Euro note!!!! We have had problems keeping all our currency separate as we have had to use several different currencies in our travels - Euro, Dirham, Gibraltar pounds, Singapore dollars.

We have also found that the Yacht Club has power sockets as in the UK and we don’t have an adapter for that, so we will have to go searching for one.

We met up with Miles in the Beacon Bar at 6:30, after a few drinks and a tour of his boat we went in to the restaurant for dinner and more drink, then drinks in the mess after that. Needless to say it was a late night and we crashed, but it was good to be able to spend the evening with Miles.
