A bit slow going this morning as jet lag and the late night kicked
in.
We didn’t end up heading out till midday to meet Miles in
town for a tour of his office, tour of the surrounding shops and lunch at Din
Tai Fung for very very fresh Yum Cha – made to order
Here he is rolling out and weighing each piece to be passed onto the next person to create yummies (isn't this why it is called Yum Cha) like these
After Miles went back to work we decided to try out the MRT
(Mass Rapid Transport) to get to the Labrador Nature Reserve. A park that Miles told us about on the rocky
cliffs in the south west, with panoramic views of the sea,
with nature trails that took us past World War 11 relics.
with explanatory story boards throughout the park.
There were squirrels in the park too but they were too quick for us to get a photo.
From the park we were able to see where they are reclaiming more land so
that they can move some of the container shipping out from the central
district.
We then went back to the MRT and continued on to the Tiger
Balm Gardens, aka Haw Par Villa,
an oriental themed park famed for depicting
traditional Chinese legends and mythology. The gardens are named after the Aw
brothers Boon Haw (Tiger) and Boon Par (Leopard) who first opened the park in
1937, and were the ones who concocted the famous pain relieving ointment Tiger
Balm.
The gardens are obviously in need of maintenance in some
places but are still very interesting and fascinating to walk around and look
at all the statues
Ian posted naked/nude ladies and it raised some interesting and amusing comments, so I thought I would too!!!!
We decided to walk back from the Tiger Balm gardens to
the Yacht club, as it wasn’t all that far.
Pretty view from the Yacht Club of the sun setting behind
the oil rig when we got back
And behind Miles’ boat

For your information. Yum Cha also known as Ban Ming is a Chinese style morning or afternoon tea which involves drinking chinese tea and eating Dim Sum dishes. Yum Cha in Cantonese means "drinking tea". While Ban Ming is a more poetic "tasting of tea" For goodness sake didn't you know that!! I'll leave others to comment on the piglike object and nude and naked ladies. Ive tired myself out with the Yum Cha explanation!!
ReplyDeleteOn second thoughts. Any big eared pig that needs to hold his hand up with concrete blocks ain't going to get my change !!!
ReplyDeleteAh the sunsets yes remember those!!! Looking fwd to visiting Yum Cha on a return trip to Singapore which Chasely says is happening :)
