The Phillips' Itinerary

I thought I would start the ball rolling with posting an outline of our Itinerary and sending the blog details to our family and friends so that they can read and comment ......

We leave Brisbane for Singapore on Sunday 3 June at 20 past 2.

After spending a night at the Lavendar Hotel and exploring Singpore the next day, we leave for Paris at 5 minutes to midnight. Arriving at Charles De Gaul airport at 7:20 am on Tuesday 5 June.
We then catch a train to Carcassonne arriving there at 18:09.

Here we meet up with the rest of  the group, as depicted in the photo at the beginning of this blog, to spend 3 days in an apartment and explore the ancient and historic city of Carcassonne, before travelling together by train to Beziers and then to Port Cassafieres to board our Canal Boat.

After spending 10 days together, relaxing, cycling and enjoying the countryside and towns along the way on the Canal Du Midi, we each continue on our separate journeys of exploration.

We catch a train into Spain on the evening of the 18 June, staying the night in Figueres and picking up a hire car the next morning to tour around Spain. After following the Salavador Dali trail around the Figueres region we head to the far west of Spain to enjoy a few days of walking in the mountains around Someido. Here we are booked into a country paradores http://www.casonasasturianas.com/palacioalvaroflorezestrada/default_en.asp

We then head south, through Madrid, Toledo, Cordova, Seville, Cadiz... where we are just going to pick up accomodation en route and then accross to Tangier on the ferry. Here we are booked into the Hotel Continental for the 28 June.

Back accross on the ferry the next day to spend 3 days in Gibraltar for Bill to go down memory lane.

Next we drive to Granada where we hope to tour the Alhambra and then head for the hills of the Sierra Nevada for more walking.

Our journey through Spain ends with a drive up the East Coast to Barcelona where we return the hire car and fly out on the 9th July for Singapore, where we spend another 4 days at the Yacht club.

We arrive back in Brisbane on the 14 July at 9:50 am

  1. I tried to write a comment this morning - but it is not there?
Anyway this trip looks great. We are on a canal boat in the Camargue in Sept.
We have friends who did the Canal Du Midi, and gave us a real warning about the water quality - They throw the toilet waste into the canal (from boats) So wear gloves when handling ropes etc,
Also hand sanitizer is a good idea, the last thing you want is a gippy tum !
    Enjoy, Dave Moore

  2. Hi Dave
Thanks for your warning. We had heard similar stories from others.
Thanks also for adding a comment. It is good to see that some are involving themselves in the blog.
BTW - your first comment is there - it is attached to the initial Post wtih the photo of the group. You must have gone to the post to look at the photo and then added a comment there.
    All's good
